Turmeric lemon water: Your Daily Detox Drink

I have been enjoying a warm glass of lemon water for many years to start my day. This is because of the numerous health benefits it offers. However, I have recently switched to drinking lemon water and turmeric. Here’s why.

Lemon water has many health benefits on its own. It helps detoxify your body by giving your digestive system an extra kick. My morning cup has become more of an everyday necessity than a luxury. After so much traveling, I need my daily detox.

To help me keep going with my morning routine, I started looking for ways to spice it up. After some research, I found that adding turmeric to lemon water makes my morning pick-me-up taste different and provides many health benefits.

You don’t have to drink coffee every morning if you already rush out of the house. Why not try a super healthy turmeric lemon water instead?

It is quick and easy to prepare, and unlike coffee, is high in vitamins C, flavonoids, and antioxidants. This is a simple and delicious way to take turmeric, even if you have read about its health benefits.

What is Tumeric?

The bright yellow spice that gives curry its color is a South Asian native. It is part of the ginger family. However, it is more than a flavoring agent. Turmeric has been used in traditional ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. However, Western scientists are just beginning to fully examine the health benefits. Scientists are discovering fascinating things.

A study published by the Journal of Nephropathology concluded that “Turmeric…may reemerge…as a remedy or preventive tool for many illnesses including different types of cancers and obesity, type-2 diabetes and hyperlipidemia, CKD [chronic renal disease] and ESRD (end-stage renal disease].”

Ground turmeric is easier to find and use than fresh turmeric root. The latter will give you a more complex flavor profile. Premade turmeric tea can also be purchased.

What Are the Health Benefits of Turmeric?

Turmeric is a powerful nutritional supplement because of chemical compounds called curcuminoids. Curcumin is the most effective.

Curcumin is both an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory agent. Curcumin also aids in the absorption of other antioxidants.

Curcumin has been shown to delay or reverse brain diseases in rats. It also improves blood vessel function, so it could reverse heart disease.

What other uses can turmeric be used in my lemon and turmeric drink? Many people find that turmeric can help them combat depression and other mental health conditions. Curcumin has been proven to be beneficial for cancer patients as it inhibits almost all types of tumor cells.

All that said, I thought it would be a good idea to add some turmeric to my warm lemon water each morning.

What Is Tumeric Water?

Turmeric water is water that has been mixed with turmeric. It can be made with powdered turmeric root or grated turmeric root.

This healthy spice has a strong flavor so it’s important to choose the right amount for you. As I do with lemon, you can flavor turmeric water.

The Tools You’ll Need for Perfect Lemon and Turmeric Water

An organic lemon powder and a stainless-steel lemon squeezer are the best tools to make a delicious cup of lemon juice or turmeric water.

What Does Turmeric Taste Like?

Warm lemon water is something many people fear. They don’t know what turmeric tastes like, either. The addition of turmeric masks the intensity and gives the dish a complex peppery taste.

Turmeric is bitter and strong by itself. You may find the turmeric water with lemon flavor to be too strong or surprising at first. Start by using a lower amount of turmeric, and then increase it gradually. A pinch of cinnamon can be used to offset the strong flavor.

You can also start with less turmeric in your turmeric-lime water. It can have a profound impact on your digestive system, which is a good thing. However, you shouldn’t overdo it. Some people may be sensitive to spice.

To offset the sweetness, you could also add some raw honey (do NOT use it on a vegan diet), maple sugar, or coconut nectar. Remember that sweetness is a good thing.

If you aren’t ready to try the turmeric flavor right away, there are a few other options. You can start with premade turmeric in tea bags. You can choose to make turmeric tea, or herbal tea with ginger, or any other ingredient that will temper the flavor.
